Northup/20th, BelRed, and 140th losing a car lane

I have made my way through the BelRed area by bike, and it is tricky. I would like to ride in BelRed more. However, am i going to make the choice to commute by bike, even if the road was comfortable? Are you? The City estimates the project will add just 210 bike trips a day overall but only 13 will be new bike commuters. Almost all feedback has been by cyclists. Most people I talk to assume that there is only adding bike lanes, not removing car lanes.

The goal of the Bike Bellevue plan is to make it comfortable for cyclist at all levels. Length of cycling trip is not as important as comfort and safety. One can avoid BelRed altogether, if it is not your destination, by going on EasTrail and 520 trail.

Choose a way to let the City know:

  1. If opposed to removing lanes, sign an online petition at BikeBellevue.com
  2. Signup to speak at the Transportation Commission https://bellevue.legistar.com/
  3. Comment with the city tool (best for details for specific places https://bikebellevue.konveio.com/
  4. Email. Council, Transportation Commission, and BTCC. Click here to start mailto://council@bellevuewa.gov,transportationcommission@bellevuewa.gov,board@bridletrailscommunity.org?subject=Removal%20of%20car%20lanes

HELP US KEEP BRIDLE TRAILS COMMUNITY CLUB AFLOAT!

During Covid, BTCC suspended operations and did not collect dues. We are now resuming operations and need your support. We are all volunteers, but we do need financial support for typesetting, printing, and mailing our newsletter, as well as equipment or other costs for meetings, such as signs and administrative costs.

To simplify our collection efforts, we will begin to collect the $20 dues on an annual basis beginning August of each year.

So please either go to the website bridletrailscommunity.org to join or send a check to:

Remember that BTCC is your neighborhood advocate. Our mission is to preserve, protect and promote our Bridle Trails Community. Your support is essential for presenting a strong, engaged community voice to the City of Bellevue, the County and any other organization which may propose actions affecting the Bridle Trails area. Your dues are our only income that helps support our neighborhood representation to the City of Bellevue.
